Level 1 vs Level 2
What's Right for You?

Standard

Level 1 Charger

Uses a standard 120V outlet. Adds approximately 5–8 km of range per hour — too slow for daily use unless your commute is very short. No electrical upgrade required, but impractical for most EV owners.

Questions

EV Charger FAQs

Most EV charger installations are completed within half a day to a full day, depending on panel location, conduit run length, and charger placement. We'll give you a precise estimate after the site assessment.
Not always — it depends on your panel's current capacity. Older 100A panels or already-loaded panels may need an upgrade to safely support a 240V circuit. We assess this during the site visit and only recommend an upgrade when it's genuinely required.
For most homeowners, a Level 2 (240V) charger is the right choice. It delivers 25–40 km of range per hour — meaning a full charge overnight for most vehicles. Level 1 (standard outlet) is too slow for daily use unless you drive very little.
A standard Level 2 EV charger installation typically runs $800–$1,800 depending on panel capacity, conduit length, and charger brand. This includes the circuit, labour, and ESA permit. If a panel upgrade is also needed, that's quoted separately.
Yes. Any new dedicated circuit installation in Ontario requires an ESA permit and inspection. We handle the permit process for you — all work is done by a licensed Master Electrician and inspection-ready from day one.
