Do I need a panel upgrade for a hot tub?

It depends on your current service. Most modern hot tubs require a 50A or 60A dedicated circuit. If you have an older 100A panel that is already heavily loaded with electric appliances (stove, dryer, A/C), you may need a panel or service upgrade. We will perform a formal load calculation during our assessment to give you a definitive answer.

Do you handle the trenching for the wires?

Yes, we can manage the trenching. ESA code requires underground electrical lines to be buried at a specific depth depending on the type of conduit used. We ensure the trench is dug to the exact code requirements for safety and compliance.

Where does the disconnect panel need to go?

By code, the GFCI disconnect panel must be located within line of sight of the hot tub, but it cannot be closer than 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the inside wall of the tub, preventing bathers from reaching it while in the water.

Is an ESA permit required just for a hot tub?

Yes, absolutely. Running a new dedicated circuit and installing exterior GFCI equipment requires a permit from the Electrical Safety Authority. We pull the permit on your behalf and coordinate the final inspection so you have total peace of mind.
